A long macchiato is a double espresso (60ml) served in a glass with a dollop of foam and a teaspoon of hot or cold milk. A long macchiato is served in a 220ml glass. A Long Black is prepared by adding approximately 2/3rds boiling water into a cup then extracting a double shot of espresso (60ml) over the water.
The main ingredients include espresso and milk, with a few variations, depending on the version of this beverage. In Italian, Macchiato means “stained” or “spotted,” referring to how the coffee is flavored for a unique taste
If you're a well-educated coffee drinker then you can guess what the difference is. If not, a long macchiato contains two shots of espresso, and a short, dash-like amount of milk and often does not fill up the complete glass.
